Hoe wordt cilinderinhoud bepaald?
Het volgende stukje kwam ik tegen in een ZX9 forum:Engine design was based upon the 45F series engine (a generic engine design not originally designed for any particular production vehicle but geared to racing applications) for inherent weight and cooling advantages. The ZX-9 engine is not a true 899 cc engine. Using normal cylinder measurements, the engine is actually 1032 cc's. However, its listed as 899 cc since the Kawasaki corp felt that combustion dome expansion chambers (top rear part of cylinder between the intake valves and sparkplug) does not qualify as to be required in the engine size. This was taken to court in Japan by Yamaha, but Kawasaki won the suit. Keep in mind that all other motorcycles include this area in engine size and this is currently under appeal.
